Ahh, Music City!
Nashville has been listed as “The It City” for several years now – and it shows no signs of slowing down.
Luckily, Nashville is very dog-friendly. There is no end to the activities you and your dog can enjoy together.
If you’re in need of some inspiration for your next trip to Nashville, here are 5 dog-friendly ways your pup can exercise their “star power” in Music City.
Stay
Dog-friendly accommodations in Nashville abound. Several of the upscale hotels have specialty pet programs designed to pamper your pet. Offerings like decadent pet beds and massages means your pup will live the good life.
Hutton Hotel near Music Row is a boutique hotel offering a Paws-itively Perfect program. Your dog will be spoiled with amenities such as welcome treats, bandana, leash and toy and in-room Furry Friend Menu featuring organic snacks.
If you aren’t ready for a splurge, there are other great dog-friendly options such as Embassy Suites near the airport or Residence Inn near Vanderbilt University.
Dine
Nashville has some pretty sweet dog-friendly patios. From breweries to coffee shops, to a restaurant that sports their own dog park, there’s something for every taste.
Swing by Edley’s Bar-B-Que on 12 South for some award-winning food. You never know who you might see dining next to you. Your dog can relax under the table on the covered patio in case you “accidentally” drop some of that smoked brisket.
If you’ve saved room for dessert, your dog will love a stroll just up the street to Five Daughters Bakery for a 100 Layer Donut.
That dog park I mentioned? You’ll find it at Fifty First Kitchen & Bar. Order your drink in a plastic cup and you can sip on the patio while your pup plays.
Shop
Who doesn’t want to do a little shopping while on vacation? Many stores and boutiques welcome your dog to shop alongside you. Browse White’s Mercantile and bring home some carefully curated treasures. Your pup will enjoy the doggy treats they have waiting inside.
Watch for Amelia’s Flower Truck, which makes several stops around town each week.
And when your dog is ready to shop for her own goodies, take her to Hunter & June in East Nashville for unique pet items. Stylish and practical, you’ll find beautiful products for your dog and yourself.
Snap
Ready for some Instagram worthy photos? You won’t have a hard time finding the perfect spot in Nashville. Take a walk over the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (you’ve seen it on TV – what’s the name of that show again?). Your dog will look like a celebrity. Continue on to Riverfront Park to take in the views.
Street art is everywhere. Some of the most iconic murals can be found in the 12 South Neighborhood or The Gulch.
Take a stroll down Lower Broad for more photo opportunities. Your best dog-friendly option is early in the day. By evening, downtown is crowded and noisy. Did I mention crowded? Your dog would probably rather be curled up with a nice chew toy.
Play
No trip to Nashville is complete without a visit to Centennial Park. Here you’ll find walking trails, a beautiful spring-fed lake, and the star attraction, The Parthenon: a full-scale replica of the ancient Greek temple.
Special events are held in the park all year ‘round, like Musician’s Corner. Your dog is welcome to lounge with you at this showcase of live music. Need some time away from the city lights? Schedule a hike at one of the Warner Parks. Celebrity sightings on the trail? That’s a thing.
Both Percy Warner and Edwin Warner Parks encompass over 3000 acres of forested, hilly terrain – perfect for your pup to stretch her legs. With both a paved roadway system and dirt trails, it’s easy to find a hike that’s perfect for everyone. Just nine miles from downtown Nashville, you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of the wilderness.
And if you’re a fan of dog parks, you can visit Warner Dog Park located nearby.
Want more adventure? How about trying some stand up paddle boarding with your dog? Nashville Paddle Company, located on Percy Priest Lake, will let you SUP with your pup.
