Cannabis is legal for adult use in California, but there still are a few things you can't do. And threatening police with a bong is a definite no-no, especially when said bong is shaped like a firearm.
That's what happened recently to a San Diego man who was arrested on Tuesday night after he reportedly pointed a rifle-shaped bong at police officers.
The incident began when a passerby on the 500 block of Park Boulevard spotted what appeared to be the muzzle of a rifle poking out from the window blinds of a nearby building. Police soon arrived on the scene and stopped traffic in the area so they could investigate the situation.
Later that night, police raided the suspicious apartment, but they didn't find any guns—not real ones, anyway. Instead, what the man had been pointing at police officers was actually a bong made to look like a gun. So while owning a bong and smoking up in your home isn't a problem in California, brandishing anything that could reasonably be mistaken for a firearm is.
And so the man wound up getting arrested for marijuana in a legal state. Cannabis consumers be advised: if you enjoy bongs, stick to ones that actually look like bongs.
